You read about Invisalign, you see the commercials, you even know people who have the clear trays on their teeth. Is it possible that you could be a good candidate for this orthodontic alternative too? 1. You’re great at commitment.

People who get braces of any sort must commit themselves to many months of treatment. Invisalign wearers usually need to dedicate one year, on average, to complete the entire course of treatment. This is about half the time it takes to complete a round of conventional metal braces.

2. You make the most of your phone timer.

Some people don’t use all the bells and whistles on their mobile phone, but Invisalign wearers learn to rely on their timer and alarm apps. Invisalign needs to be worn for 20 to 22 hours a day, but you don’t have to count the time that the trays are in your mouth – you do, however, need to count the minutes they’re out of your mouth.

Setting a 30-minute alarm during a meal will alert you to what’s really happening with your time. It’s easy to perceive that much time hasn’t passed at all, but when you’re having fun and conversation, more time could have passed than you imagined, and your aligners have been out of your mouth for too long.

3. You don’t want anything to interfere with your daily life.

Braces, while an excellent choice for straightening teeth, are not exactly subtle. They demand a lot of attention and they draw a lot of attention, both things that busy adults aren’t exactly crazy about. Invisalign, though, doesn’t get in the way of anything. You remove the trays for meals so you can eat whatever you want. The aligners fit so snugly and are clear so they are nearly impossible to see on your teeth. The things you might worry about being affected – your job, social life, or personal life – are unlikely to take a hit at all.

4. You want to avoid another time suck.

Obligations and responsibilities abound for adults, and it’s understandable that you don’t want to add another thing to the pile that’s going to take away your precious free time. Invisalign doesn’t really work that way. Once you’re fitted for your trays, you’re on your own for six to eight weeks, changing them out every two weeks or as instructed.
