Dr. Johnson is a highly trained and skilled general and cosmetic dentist. She understands the importance of a healthy and beautiful smile on a personal level; she was inspired by her positive experience with orthodontics to become a dentist. She loves being able to change people’s lives through dentistry and she enjoys seeing her patients’ faces after placing beautiful crowns or completely transforming their smiles.
Dr. Johnson received her dental degree from the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1995 and has been practicing in the United States since 2001. She is licensed as a dentist in Illinois, Florida, Canada and South Africa.
Dr. Johnson has served as the Assistant Director of the General Practice Residency program at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and for two years, she was an adjunct faculty member for the Advanced Education in General Dentistry program at Nova Southeastern University.
Dr. Johnson has an eye for aesthetics and especially enjoys cosmetic dentistry. Her research in various areas of dentistry has been published in Dentistry Today and The Journal of the American Dental Association.
Dr. Johnson has been serving on the Commission of Dental Accreditation since 2003. She is an active member of the following professional organizations:
Outside of the office Dr. Johnson stays active with tennis, aerobics and Latin American Dance. She also enjoys pottery and flower arranging. Dr. Johnson volunteers her time at the Oak Park Animal Care League and the Oak Park Conservatory. She and her staff take part in many charitable activities that support the local community and beyond.
Periodontist As a periodontist, Dr. Alvarez is a specialist in the treatment of gum and bone tissue and in the placing of dental implants. She went into dentistry because it allowed her to fulfill her passion for helping others and her love of science. She enjoys getting to meet new people and helping them attain the smiles they have always wanted. Her expertise lies in her ability to help improve the health of her patients’ gums and the underlying tissue that support the teeth. Her approach to dentistry is to provide expert individualized and patient-centered treatment.
Dr. Alvarez received her dental degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 2007 and completed her periodontic specialist training at Nova Southeastern University in 2011. She is passionate about periodontics and, through regular continuing education, stays up-to-date with the latest advances in her field.
Endodontist Dr. Bui is an endodontist, a specialist in root canal therapy. His approach to treatment is to make his patients’ experience as comfortable and pain-free as possible. Dr. Bui is known for his calming chairside manner and for being excellent at keeping his patients informed of what is going on throughout their treatment.
Dr. Bui earned his dental degree summa cum laude from State University of New York in 2003. He then completed an additional two years of postgraduate education in endodontics, receiving his specialist certificate from the University of Pennsylvania in 2005. His advanced training enables him to provide expert, gentle root canal treatment.
Dr. Bui has received many awards and scholarships throughout the course of his education and training. This includes the Award in Endodontics from the American Association of Endodontics, the Horace Wells Award from the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology and a Scholarship for Outstanding Clinical Achievement.
Dr. Bui has published articles on endodontics in the Journal of Endodontics as well as the Journal of the American Dental Association.
Dr. Bui enjoys spending his free time with his family in Fort Lauderdale.
Dr. Libby Finer was raised in Pembroke Pines, Florida.
She is excited to join the Premier Smile Center team and work alongside Dr. Charmaine Johnson to provide comprehensive care while building new patient relationships and healthy smiles.
She attended Boston University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree and then went on to complete her Masters in Biomedical Sciences at Barry University.
She continued her education at Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine where she earned her degree of Doctor of Dental Medicine. After graduation, she relocated to Chapel Hill, NC where she completed her General Practice Residency at UNC Hospital.
She is compassionate and gentle, and continues to keep up to date in all clinical practices to provide you with the best quality of care.
