In the past, it was customary to remove wisdom teeth as soon as they came into the mouth. Nowadays, my view is different.
If your wisdom teeth have come in completely and are not causing pain, it can be okay to keep them. You can keep them as long as you can access them to keep them clean. A regular checkup and cleaning will help answer that question. If you are able to keep the plaque and food off the teeth and maintain them just as well as you can your other teeth, they won’t cause problems in the mouth.
However, often, wisdom teeth are partially impacted and may have only come in half way. In these cases, they become infected easily and are hard to keep clean. Sometimes they may even come in crooked and push against the tooth in front of it. This can damage the tooth in front. In these cases, I advise you to remove the wisdom teeth so that they do not jeopardize the other teeth.
