It’s nice to know what you’re getting into when you say yes to any cosmetic dentistry treatment. Having an idea of the facts and figures surrounding Invisalign especially makes this long-term commitment easier to accept and appreciate. You’ll be putting in significant time and effort but the result will be worth it – a straight, healthy smile.
20 to 22 Hours
Every Invisalign wearer, no matter what version of this treatment you have, must wear the trays for 20 to 22 hours a day. The longer the better. Think about braces-wearers – they have their brackets and wires in place around the clock for the duration of their treatment. Getting a few hours off promises a little daily freedom from these biocompatible and BPA-free trays and that’s a perk you can’t overlook.
2 Weeks
Every set of aligners you wear during your Invisalign treatment will be used for approximately two weeks before they’re changed out for the next set. Think of this as making independent adjustments on your teeth without the need to visit your dentist. Each set of trays is carefully designed to move certain teeth at certain times until your smile is in complete alignment.
18 to 30 Trays
There are an average of 30 trays in a typical Invisalign wearers entire repertoire of aligners. Some people need fewer aligners, some patients may need more. It depends on how much your teeth need to move, how well you follow the instructions given by your dentist, and how cooperative your teeth roots and crowns are. Once you’re green-lit for this treatment, you’ll know exactly how many trays to expect over the course of the treatment.
12 to 18 Months
A full course of Invisalign braces takes, on average 12 to 18 months to complete – this is about half the time of conventional metal braces. Talk about efficiency. Results will start showing themselves in a matter of a week or two and, over time, your teeth will move into proper alignment until your smile is fully aligned.
6 to 8 Weeks
If you’re concerned about visits to your cosmetic dentist cramping your schedule, don’t be. Check-ins are only needed every six to eight weeks and even then they’re brief – your dentist takes a good look at your progress and supplies you with the next several sets of Invisalign. Every visit is part of the treatment as a whole so you won’t have to worry about copays every time.
14 Million
Over 14 million people – which includes over 3 million teens – have used Invisalign to change their smile. This number is up considerably from just a few years ago when 5 million people had said yes to clear aligners, including 1 million teens.

The staff is very friendly, warm and extremely knowledgeable. I felt relaxed and comfortable knowing I chose the right place to get the dental work I needed. Dr. Johnson is very humane and very knowledgeable, and she does amazing work. I like the friendliness and honesty of the whole practice. I was not confident with my smile, in fact I was very self conscious and rarely smiled. Premier Smile Center has changed all that. My smile is one of the things I like the most.
