Porcelain Veneers Fort Lauderdale
Veneers are custom-made, thin, tooth-shaped pieces of porcelain that are installed over the front side of your teeth to cosmetically change their color or shape.
Veneers are used to improve the appearance of teeth that are badly discolored or stained, abnormally shaped, chipped, crooked, or have other defects. To create a more uniform and balanced smile, veneers may also be used on teeth that have uneven surfaces or are unevenly spaced. Some teeth have been stained severely by medications such as tetracycline or by other substances, as too much fluoride during tooth development. Injury or trauma can also cause teeth to become discolored. These stains end up inside teeth, not on the surface, so whitening procedures are not very effective, but veneers are.
Porcelain Veneer Procedure
- The first step is diagnosis and planning.
- The second step is preparation. A small amount of enamel is removed to accommodate the veneer, but is generally not painful, so little or no anesthesia is needed. A mold is made by our dentists, which is sent to one of our trusted dental laboratories, from which the veneers are made.
- The third step is placement of the veneers, at which time they are bonded to your teeth.
After one or two weeks, you’ll return for a follow-up appointment.
Veneers have longer life expectancy and color stability than bonding and are highly resistant to any permanent staining from substances such as coffee, tea, or cigarette smoke.
At Premier Smile Center, we place Empress brand porcelain veneers.
